We gutted it today.

Both doors inc glass and electrics, carpet, headliner, rear seats, panels, center console, speakers.
Quite a big pile of debris.

I'm putting my 710's on it tomorrow.

Just to tweak people, were going to put my Porsche GT3 rear wing on it! naughty.gif

The hood is a replacement.
It has a nice layer of surface rust.
It'll be black soon.

Between the porsche crests and the GT3 wing, I'll likely be banished from future GGR a/x's.
I was thinking about installing my "Racer's Group" window banner, but even I have limits busted.gif

KT
Trekkor
Both the stock seats and stock belts for now.

If it's 'fun enough', we'll get race seats, five points and a cage

I'll put some better front pads in before Sears on the 21st.

KT
Trekkor
I'm still hunting for the top 25 at Alameda.

KT
grantsfo

There you go Trekkor! Have BRAG sponsor you with a set of KYB's and H&R sport springs. cool_shades.gif

There has to be a way to improve that suspension without dumping a ton of money into it. Whish I still had the Echo that car was hilarious to drive at AX events. You do want to figure out a way to beef up rear sway bar. Rear sway bar will helps keep fronts wheels on the ground in turns and help rotate the car when your off throttle. Technique is dump the car hard into turn then at very last minute give her the go pedal.

Hey Brad you have any BRAG stickers I'd be happy to put them on the car. I'm getting ready to put my 914club decals on soon.
Brad Roberts
We are working on BRAG graphics right now smile.gif

it should stick out 45 degrees at a 1.005 G turn ... and 90 degrees at a 2.005 G turn
914Magazine
and 180 degrees at a 2.006 G turn?

I don't even know what the heck I am talking about..... ha ha ha
Brad Roberts
I knew Larry would know clap56.gif

Cheap data aquisition!

B
Krote6
if you put a little pen on a bungee under it with a pad you could get a G circle plot also
snakemain
180 degrees after you roll it.

I got the dumpkoff for trying to watch the tree in my yellow car so be careful it is hypnotising
grantsfo
I have some black POR you can use to paint that rusty front hood racer black. Lets see that GT3 wing mounted on that Fordsche!

Honestly I'd be worried a little bit about that car using 710's with stock suspension - you will get some real funky weight transfer that could possibley put the car on its roof.
Krote6
Grant did you read my first line on this post? lol
Brad Roberts
I'd the use the ebrake to get it around!! lol.gif

Has anyone checked to see if you can drive it off the end of the runway and into the bay?

I used to do that on my Toyota Corona. Works like a charm once ya get used to it. As for the Bay, I'll let ya know on the 13th... happy11.gif

Then we'd get to see the 180 degree pine tree... smile.gif
Krote6
Brad I plan to bring a brick just for that reason Maybe Vinnie will bring some cannolli's
Trekkor
OK, so the a/x was a blast.

I learned something good today.

The car's owner came over to inspect my handywork and was pleased.
He told me that the motor in the car is a replacement motor with only 10k miles.
How cool is that for a free car?

I put new Porterfield R-4's on the front, new stock shoes on the rear and did a brake fluid flush with Motul.
Toyo's are on and I did a little 'creative suspension tuning' sawzall-smiley.gif

Next week I'll run at Sears on Monday with TMR and TH on Friday with HOD.

Next step is to install a roll cage welder.gif

Partial credit: 45 degrees for a 1 G turn, 63 degrees for a 2 G turn, 71.5 degrees for a 3 G turn. You got to understand the gravity of the situation. barf.gif

Ha, your getting tuned up for the 24 hour of lemons, hey Trekkor.

Need any co-drivers?

Yes, preserve your classic by all means.
Trekkor
Hey. It's just a track car.

It'll keep me on track twice a month until the real 746 is back in action.
Did I mention it was a free car?

KT
Brad Roberts
I just go ahead and sit out when I have nothing to drive.. lol.gif

At least knock the dents out?

B
Twise
So, Trek's runnin an Escort Service?

I applaud your ingenuity in acquiring a replacement while your main ride is down. That is very pimp of you. I would not take the dents out, just put the exact same ents on the other side. You know, for aerodynamics....
Brad Roberts
I started talking to him about suspension stuff... felt odd. I'm pretty sure it is all Mazda suspension smile.gif

What fun I have on the track!

I was turning 2:17's. Pretty slow compared to my 2:00's my 914.

Still, it was a good time.
Drove the car to the limit!

KT
914Magazine
Good for you buddy, wish I was there. Was it scary at any point?
Trekkor
Not really scary. Just different.

I drove in the 'advanced' run group. My arm is still sore from the point-bys. lol3.gif
