How about it? Who's coming through Albuquerque and when? I'd like to head out on Thursday, but am open to suggestions.

Who's coming from the NE? Wanna meet in Vegas to combine forces for the assault on So Cal? burnout.gif
VegasRacer
I think Rich was planning on comming thru Vegas again this year with The Alien. I'm in for sure. We can probably count on Chris and his Nissan powered car. Maybe Steve will even have one of his teeners running by then.

Joe - are you driving or trailering your car?

If it turns out to be only you, Chris, Rich and I all driving our cars, we can do what should be a 4 - 5 hour drive in less than 3. Just think, combined we would have well over 1000 HP in our four 914's.
rick 918-S
Ya, I'd like to leave Vegas on Thursday. I may need to pick up the wife at LAX.
Gint
Any of the Colorado guys that go should be able to swing a meet in Vegas.
Series9
I'll have the wife, two friends, a Suburban and a trailer, but the 914 will be driven on the fun segments.

If you guys want to leave Vegas on Thursday, maybe we could come in on Wednesday night for a little beerchug.gif .

I'm getting excited. The doors will be back from paint on Sunday!
VegasRacer
Colorado - Utah - Texas - Florida. All points east of LA are welcome.

There aint a snowball's chance in hell my car will be done for WCC05. But with any luck, I'll make it. And if I go, I'll hitch a ride with somebody.
Series9
Gint, you're welcome to ride with us in the 'burb. Come down to ABQ on Tuesday and we'll beerchug.gif , then to Vegas on Wednesday for some beerchug.gif , then SoCal on Thursday for, you guessed it, beerchug.gif .

BTW, the trailer I'm bringing will easily carry two 914s.
Gint
I just might take you up on that Joe if none of the Colorado guys go. But I'm betting Ferg will go at least. My decision to go isn't definite yet anyway. We'll see....

My microsoft map sends me right through Denver. I may have an open seat... Depends on whether the kids are coming or not this year.
Series9
Rich, the beerchug.gif in ABQ invite goes for you as well. If you come my way, it shouldn't make your drive much longer at all.

One of the friends coming with me owns a local brew pub happy11.gif .
Gint
Thanks Rick. I'll have to see where I'm at closer to the event.

Do I-20 to Ft. Worth, 287 to Amarillo, then I-40 with the southern group. Once you get to ABQ, you'll have mechanical backup.

I'm in.

Wishing it would stop raining and warm up... haven't gotten SQUAT done to the car this winter break.

I want to finish at least the interior before WCC'05. Would like to have finished the engine bay/manifolds, but planned free time is flying by --->>>>

If you guys are headed to Vegas, then you must be headed across I-40 so you'll be travelling through Flagstaff. I'm hoping I'll make it to WCC2005 so I'll be happy to join the caravan. If I can't go then I'm for sure up for a lunch stop with the gang.

We can plan on lunch in Flagstaff. I was actually planning on contacting the guys in Flag to try to make some arrangements.

Hopefully we'll have some others join up in Albuquerque the night before we leave for Vegas.
Series9
Here's the plan for anyone wishing to join the southern caravan:

We are leaving Albuquerque on Wednesday morning (20th) headed for Las Vegas. We'll be planning on lunch in Flagstaff and hope to pick up a couple more for the caravan.

We'll be leaving Vegas on Thursday morning after joining up with the NE group the night before.

Anyone wishing to arrive in Albuquerque on Tuesday night (19th) will be treated to free beer and grilled food at my house, as well as free lodging (we have lots of floor/couch space).

Please check in so we know you're coming. I know there have to be some from OK and TX. beerchug.gif

Rick is planning on leaving Vegas on Thursday morning.

Our schedule is based on the assumption that the NE caravan will likely form around him and the desire to have spare time built into the trip for possible....ummm...mechan
ical displeasures.

I know that Vegas Racer had hoped you would join us. Just skip on Thursday too. Priorities... B)
VegasRacer
I have my vacation request signed and stamped. I can leave as early as Monday.
By Thursday I will be chomping at the bit. burnout.gif

Chris - you are looking rather pale. I think you may have a fever too. icon8.gif
Perhaps we should rush you to a 'special doctor' in California.

Rich & Joe - you guys make the call on the schedule.
Anytime you are ready to go is fine by me.
CptTripps
Anyone planning on treking from as far east as Cleveland? I'm thinking my car ought to be done by then...that'd be a blast. (or a pain in the ass...)
Howard
Think we need a trial run. We can all fly to Vegas in March! Check out these fares

i might be coming from maryland with the 914, engine stuff is coming along nicely, i figure with a suby engine it would be like driving a newer car. the biggest concerns would be chassis, but most of those are easy to fix, the worst case thing would be a tranny cv problem but i will bring a spare cv.

I've got too many reasons not to go on Thursday...
1. had to pull strings to get into overlapping classes, tues & thurs. I miss an hour a week of a 3.5 hour class.
2. the extra cash to be out-of-town a whole day x2 'cause girls don't pay for crap.
3. the coed I wanted to bring smile.gif
I can miss Mondays classes no problem.
So I'm a no go on Thursday.
Series9
Scott: you'd be making the longest trek. You'll be on the NE route and may (likely) be on your own until Ohio.

CptTripps: Looks like it's you and Scott until you can meet up with Rick.

Chris: That absolutely sucks! Please figure out another way. We want you with us for the assault on Ventura.

To Scott and Cpt: please take the chance. It's an adventure you won't regret. Once you hook up with another member, you'll have the mechanical back up you need.
VegasRacer
Joe, Rich and other eastern Thursday guys - do you have your rooms booked at the Hampton or Days Inn? Either one is fine by me, but it would be more fun if all of us early folks were staying at the same place.

I haven't made reservations for Vegas.

Due to travel points, Days Inn would be better for me, but I'm willing to stay where ever 914RS is safe. B)

Thanks for the concern.

You guys COULD hang out in Vegas for a day... or I could do Thurs after 3pm.

I'm sure VegasRacer would tour guide to the Dam or something smile.gif

Oh, and I'm for the Hampton, though there is more food next to Days Inn, according to Street Atlas '04.

okay i am tring to figure this out to be as safe and sure as possible. mapquest says its 40 hours of driving, i figure i am good for 24 hours with 4 hours of naps thrown in so in 1 day i can be about half way there. 914 rs you have a pm. i would not mind taking breaks at where ever i can meet up with someone. i would just need to get to their place 4 to 8 hours before they leave. but that adds lots of time to the trip.

so 914 rs when do you plan on leaving NM, if its wed, i could be there to leave with you but crash tues night. if it is tues pm i could still do it but i would be a zombie.

still planning this out but tring to make plans to meet up. check back for updates.

If you want to swing through Cleveland, you could crash here on Day #1?

Even if I don't make it, (Car SHOULD be ready) Fell free to use my place as a stop. I've got spare rooms.

I'm going to have a mobile garage with me in the back of our support-Burb. We're even considering having a MIG welder along for the ride.

I'll definitely have six jack stands... huh.gif
scott thacher
i am bring the baby gas welding rig, but only enough o2 for 20 to 30 mins of welding.

Geeze ....I wish my car would be ready, but no way it will be !!!! If anyone wants to meet up around the Amarillo area, or need anything from that area, lemme know. I don't have much, but I will do what I can. Maybe if the schedule works out ok, and depending on when some of y'all are coming through Amarillo (I-40) maybe I could tag along for a while just to get me motivated again !!!!!
Chris914n6
No faith in 914 you have.

I should have open driveway space, and a fully stocked Sears tool center in the garage ;)

I also might have flat space and MIG available from a body shop friend, depends on his work load.

Did I ever tell you how I put together a completely stripped chassis in 28 days, then 2 days later did a flawless fun run in Socal... I miss not working... beerchug.gif

Faith in my 914 I do have. :headbanger: driving.gif
rick 918-S
Co-pilot still on the fence, Waiting for the wife to decide where she wants to fly in. Vegas or Cali... Wimin! I can leave for Vegas as early as Friday night 4/15 I can be in Vegas early in the week. We should have a gathering place so we can all cruise the strip and get some cool photos.

What is the gas price out west?

Here in Northern Arizona 87 Octane regular is going for $1.88 at the local Express Fuels & Safeway. Brand names like Exxon or 76 are at least 20 cents higher and Premium is 20 cents higher than regular.

Rich ? Any word from the boss on what your plans are going to be? When will you land in Vegas? When do you want to leave for California (Thurs or Fri)? Which hotel do you plan to stay at?
