We signed the car up under "914Club.com" as a sponsor. If they announce the car on TV.. they *should* say "the 914club.com Boxster"

I have windshield banners.. I just hate shipping them. I have to roll them up and ship them in tubes I have to cut down

Car is doing well. We are currently 14th out of 32 cars running 33.6's fastest lap is a 32.4 right now. We were on old tires (4 heat cycles is old)

Want to know why Brad makes changes to the setup at AutoX events? Club racing and Pro events??
How about going from 14th out of 32 cars this morning to 4th out of 32?
1MM TOE CHANGE IN THE FRONT AND 2 CLICKs OF REBOUND IN THE REAR!!! (from the morning setup)
Grand Am live timing and scoring Choose ST class at the top. Gene Sigal and Chris Prey are the drivers.
1mm toe change was worth 3mph at the end of the two main straits.

Best part? We were on scrub tires. We will drop another .5 of a second on stickers. We watched 90% of our field go out on stickers for that practice session.
Should be interesting to say the least. The key is: both our drivers are running within .3 of each other in lap times. Rarely does a pro team have TWO fast drivers

Think I take this seriously? Rules call for 2600 w/o driver and no fuel

We will pick up 2-3lbs worth of tire marbles.. and we have checked the car against the GA scales. We are dead nuts on with them (this pic shot from our scales)

We bolted the cool suit bracket into the car and re weighed it. We are now 2603

The Mini's are fast!!
Qualifying is coming up at 5pm EST

Wish us luck!!
The car is setup up for qualifying to get the session done in 5 laps.
Race setup will be a LOT different.

Do mini's have to run restrictor plates? Seems like turbos would have real advantage.

Not quite sure what the minis run weight wise but even if the allowed the JCW spec car it is only ~200hp. Frankly, I am surprised that front wheel drive cars dominate that class. I mean a Chevy Cobalt, really? I haven't been in a Cobalt but I have been in a Caviler and that car is probably the worst car in every respect that I have ever been in.

Look at powerband of the turbo cars. They make better power across wider RPM range. They also make better torque numbers. Cobolts are doing very well in Europe in Touring car series. Granted they are a little tweaked from stock but they arent all that bad of a FWD race car. I wouldnt touch one but they seem to have decent suspension and very strong motor.

Mar 5 2010, 07:52 PM
We qualified 5th and the session was shortened by an off. The mini's were allowed more power this year. The GIRL driving the pole car is really good.. she was motoring us on the straights and parking it in the corners in front of us. See our 35? we told the driver to back off and get away from her. He passed her twice and she would nearly spin in front of him.
This is where you want to be after qualifying!!
IMPOUND!!!
They check our weight
They check our ride height
They check our camber

The rules limit camber? How about toe and castor?
Brad Roberts
Mar 6 2010, 09:07 AM
Toe and caster are wide open. We are NOT even close to max camber. We put on the car what the tires temps tell us. We are limited to -3.0 F+R and we are running 2.1 on the right side of the car and 1.7 on the left front and 1.9 on the left rear (Homestead is a Roval)
Good morning race fans..

Next event the car gets a complete wrap with "ironman 2" we are promoting the movie

We did well, but kinda messed up on one of the restarts after we pitted on a yellow. The driver who got into the car did not race back to the back of the pack after he left pit lane. We lost about 2 positions. The driver also was tapped in the left rear which knocked the toe out and caused too much scrub down the straights

(went from toe in to toe out)

Very cool! I didn't know you needed permission to race a Porsche
How does "contingency money" work?
Brad Roberts
Mar 8 2010, 01:19 AM
Porsche has verbally told Grand Am multiple times in the past that they did not want the Boxster or Cayman road raced professionally.
Contingency sponsors pay X amount of money depending on where you place. Each sticker you see on the car pays us to run the sticker. This event the contingency stickers amounted to about $2400

Bill

This is my 10th year running pro cars. Some years I only ran 3/4 of the season due to budgets other years were full seasons.
Going through the data more thoroughly this morning while waiting on my flight out of Florida..
Car pulled a max G load of 1.36
In the banking it would pull -1.76
Max speed for the main straight leading into turn one was 142 mph (we put a 6 speed in the car before Daytona)
More info and screen shots to come!!
