Added cooling... I like it. Should be a blast. I work on Sat till 2 so maybe I'll come by and catch the last few laps of the day. Sunday is a wash... I cover for the regular photog but ya never know. Might be a slow news day and I can sneak out early.

We'll have all of our costume 'driving suits' completed today.
Did a little testing last night at the track. Everything works except the speedometer.
I'll have that fixed today.

Looks great! I really want to get into a Lemons race, I've heard nothing but great things about how fun they are.
There might be some raised eyebrows from the judges regarding the "sponsorship" decals on your car. That could count against you, and you might be hit with a few BS points.
You -are- prepared to walk away from the car if they (the judges) choose to destroy it?

We were smart. The sponsors all helped with non-budget items. Roll cage, fuel, tires, etc.
I'll roll onto the property in a little while. It's nice living just 15 minutes from the gate!

Well, after day 1, I think they are sitting top 20. The car is running well, no penalties, everyone is looking forward to tomorrow. There were a few accidents, one car rolled and caught fire, then there was another accident right at the end of the day, not sure what happened, but it was so late in the day they called the race.
I'll have some pics in a little bit.

There were some random cars running. Not one, but 2 French cars, 2 cars with bikes on racks, 1 hot dog, a Corvair (slow), a Ford Capri (I kinda like that car.) a pair of Jaguars, a V12 powered XJS, and possibly a XJ12 (not sure). There are a few Porsche 924/928s and 944s. There is an Estate 928 that took a beating penalty wise for something about the engine. BMWs have to be the weapon of choice, there are more 3 series BMWs than you can shake a stick at.

My computer is giving me fits.
It's tough to post.
the car is running great. we are running clean.
We are 8 laps off the leader at 5:05 PM. I'm still waiting for the final results for day one.
Depending on how long my computer holds up I may not be able to upload any pics.
Well, the race is over. The dust is still settling, and Filthy is in one piece. Trekkor and I have some body work to do however. Pretty much everyone in the car had contact with someone else, in one case there was an 8 car pile up due to contact between Filthy and another car in 9A. There is only one straight corner on the car now. The front left took the brunt of the onslaught, being smacked twice. I pulled the dent after the first incident, and it came back with the same dent, but with a tire burn hole in the bumper.
After the big pile up, Filthy was sent to the impound (black flagged) and basically got out of jail free because it wasn't Trekkor driving. We had one miss-communication and ended up doing an unneeded pit, but it likely didn't make a difference. Trekkor did have contact with another car in 9a, but I think it went unnoticed.
At the awards, there was an award for the "Good", the "Bad" and the "Ugly" Filthy came home with the "Bad" award. We still aren't totally sure what it means, possibly the most laps for the class, I'm not sure.
Filthy will return, but with an all new look...

We had a great race.
It was about 16 hours. We finished.
The car is pretty beat up looking. ( oh well )
No spins, minor offs, minor contact. No penalties. Biggest deal was, no mechanicals. I'm anxious to see the final results.
We just kept going!
The only work we did on the car was a brake pad change this morning before the race.
We'll get some video posted up before long.

Tyvek jumpsuits, sewn on stripes and custom made Gulf patches!
My wife did the sewing.

As a matter of fact, yes it is a mechanical fuel injection pump, and happens to be one for my Alfa. Not just any SPICA pump, but the only one used for a '69 US spec car, they were different for the '71 on cars (there were no 1970 Alfas sold here in the US).
It was a good time. I'm happy to see the car back in one piece and more or less ready to go for the next event when ever that will be.

The difference between this incident at Sears and most tracks: At most tracks, the car that rolled would have just gone straight off into the grass or dirt and had a 30 minute penalty. Sears has walls...Lot of them.

That's why, as a novice, I have a little fear associated with driving Sears. I guess it's a healthy fear. Good thing for me... track days at THill are cheaper.

Mike I had a "mishap" in T-10 at Sears a few years ago. It took the my body shop sponsor a year to put my 914/6 back together. They saved it for me tho. Sears demands a lot of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Ken...
