Yes its hard to believe but we already have 2 events behind us and are on to number 3 next week in Marina. Hope weather here in Central Cal gets better! Next Month AAS starts up in Marina.

Get there early if youre thinking about running. We had nearly 250 cars last event and they had to turn people away.

XP runs in group 4. That means no more showing up at noon to run the pm groups. I can't believe how many cars are showing up!

Haha, Alturas... Not quite the end of the earth... but you can see it from there. lol3.gif How do I know this? That is where I grew up. I left there in '96 the day after I graduated from High school, and have only been back once. My parents sold their house for $92K, best view in town, almost the top of a hill (just below the city water tanks) 10 car garage (it was an unfinished 1st story to the house) heated in ground swimming pool on 3/4 of an acre with 8 fruit trees. I kinda miss the place, but not enough to go back.

Don't jinx the weather!!! I was worried when they said it was going to be nice a week ago. You know whatever they predict a week early is going to be wrong.

I still have the secret rain car I could hual out and do pretty well in XP. happy11.gif It would be funny to see faces on AWD guys faces to see me lined up in the Mazda. The black sedan has beaten a couple of those guys in the past.

Wow timing has been great between storms- weather was incredible. Short sleaves. I got a sun burn! Boxsteer with the new front wheels is awesome! Much better turn in. Lots of familiar faces out there. Bill was co driving agaiin. Thanks for the headlight covers Bill!

Some of faster cars were doing 53 and I managed a 54 my last run. Car is definitely moving faster with the new slicks. I like to use Vic S as a benchmark and I think he turned a 53. He ran in XP with us so he took class but think I was second in class. Bill was struggling with colder tires but was still fast.

If I can get another 200 lbs out of this car and increase HP just a little I think it will be very fast. Its at a little bit of a disadvantge agianst higher powered cars still due to little power lag but its darn fast for a stockish 2.5 motor Boxster

WOW! Another great day at Marina! Marina is warmer in the winter than it is in the summer. I was down to a t-shirt today. Very seldom does that happen in summer. Grant really took off and was turning some fantastic laps. I came home with my tail between my legs. I just couldn't keep up today. To be a second behind Vic with a stock 2.5L is incredible. smilie_pokal.gif

the car is looking very nasty smile.gif and quick

Bill have you made yourself a cushion to use while driving....

Might be a good idea. I am sitting a little low. It doesn't seem to be a problem on course, but I did notice that I couldn't see the nearby cones when entering the starting area. I was really planning on having my engine done by now. I really appreciate Grant letting me drive his car though, it is a real kick.

Dan, if you go down to San Diego, make sure to bring a full-face helmet. I don't know how I managed to do it, but on one of my runs, the front tire kicked up a rock and it hit my helmet. Glad I had my old full-face helmet on.

Does SCCA have a helmet cut off date for Snell ratings, like we do in PCA?

4.3.1 Helmets
Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on course:
All helmets meeting the current or two immediately preceding Snell
Foundation standards (SA2005, SA2000, SA95, M2010, M2005,
M2000, M95, K2005, K98), SFI standards 31.1, 41.1, 31.1A, 31.2A,
41.1A, 41.2A or British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are acceptable.
Formula Junior drivers must use helmets meeting the above, SFI 24.1
(Youth Helmets), Snell CMR2007 (Children’s Motorsports Restricted),
or Snell CMS2007 (Children’s Motorsports Standard) specifications.
For maximum protection, helmets must fit securely and should provide
adequate peripheral vision. The chin strap must be securely fastened.
Loaner helmets should be available to vehicle occupants not having
their own.

This would be pertinent too:

4.3.3 Eye Protection
Face shield, goggles, or similar face protection (conventional eyeglasses
are not sufficient) shall be worn while competing in a sports racing car,
formula car, special, or in any car with less than a standard-size
windshield.

You guys were both looking really good. The car is making good progress. I think by the end of the season, it will be something to be reckoned with. (Not that you aren't already.)

I think the guys in VS are bummed out that I'm back in it. I really didn't want to race the Alfa this year. Oh well, I'm still in the hunt for another season championship.
