Seems most folks don't know they need to class their cars or not as many folks as I thought care enough to do it just yet.

its almost show time .... new alignment for the RSA and I am ready to go for AX10 once again
914Magazine
I'm still on the sidelines... Engine builder's father passed away last week. But, the car goes into the shop on Thursday so if all goes well I'll be driving it at AX #2.

How are you going to drive my car if you're running the RSA?
Might have a friend coming in from out of town to co-drive but maybe you can sneak in for a run anyway. Probably too tight a course to be tons of fun, though...
grantsfo
pbbe fun for you.

The mounting system is especially nice.

Clemson, wait until you see them in person up close.

Seems like those new comp directors need to follow traditions
and post the course map right about now beerchug.gif

AX13 is looking like 1-2 911s, 1-2 914s (Jim N and I), and lots of Boxters!
My ride is running and ready, but damn I am slow getting to the garage this year.
My test drive last Sunday was fun, the new shifter mod is SWEET.
I can't believe it took this long for me to finish a custom fab for a gear shift knob lol3.gif
JimN73
AX13 seems kind of light this year. Joe hasn't classed his car yet, so there's at least one more. I looked at last year, 23 cars participated at one time or another, average turnout was about 7. Maybe with 13 or so active cars, we'll get the same turnout.

Interesting, Chris, that with all of your mods, you're running stock wheels and street tires - gives my stocker with NT01s a chance.

I'm ready to see the course, too.

AT GGR people ask me "why did you do this to your car?" At UFO people say "thats the coolest boxster I have ever seen!" ...in a grid of 30 race tire clad modified and prepped cars.

I will take a closer look at your car. smile.gif see what are the things that I can remove from mine.

If the weather is anything like it was in Berkeley today it's going to be fantastic. beerchug.gif

It is going to be very interesting to see how PAX comes out with the changes this winter.

The GGR point classification system is changed from a few days ago.

My 1997 track boxster was AX8, now it is AX10.
My 1999 street boxster was AX12, now it is AX14.

I think the wheel penalty are different now.

But I already signed up for the event with the old AX#. Can I change it at the event?
I don't neccessary want to be in AX10. But... well, just confusing now.

should be fun driving Grant's car...no matter the course smile.gif

You got that right, Dan happy11.gif
clemsonc
Thanks Dan... my bad, I saved the old link in my favorites.

But now this raise a point, how many people who registered for the event are using the old point system.

ie:
Sharman
Narin
Laird
Maxfield

These are people who registered in MotorsportReg, but not in our new point system.
They are in the old system. I didn't check everyone, but there could be more.

Dan & Co. - thanks! beerchug.gif

Jim - low budget, dude. There is a chance I may buy some BETTER street tires in 2010, but I am going to start with my old Dunlop GTs, 195/50s....they should get the job done. My race tires/wheels will likely be sold. I want to get back to arrive and drive vs. arrive and work on the car. A renewed focus on DRIVING a tight line. We'll see.... beerchug.gif

I'll be there but the MC we got failed the bench test so no car for mikey. It's ok. See ya all there...
914Magazine
That's ok. We gave it our best shot. Even have DOT tires mounted. He'll be ready with that car for AX2. I hope to be ready with my car too. My buddy (Derrek) will be there tomorrow with his other 914 (73-2.0) Very clean car. He's gonna be selling that one and keeping the 6. It will be his first time on DOTs so it should be fun to see.

I'll see ya-all in the morning.

Anyone got a 245/17 size Hoosier A6?? I just noticed I'm starting to cord one of my rears.. blah. Oh well I'm going to run on it tomorrow, I might have to skip the afternoon.

pretty good day.
had some timer issues thru out the day so that kind of slowed things up. Only 3 runs in the AM and PM each.
Grant's car is amazing..........did I say it was AMAZING?
car turns and sticks everywhere.
In my morning runs I turned a 48.8XX, Grant had a 49.1XX. Best from there was around a 50+. We had Boynton covered all day. AndrewB was driving the 912 so he was quick but not in the hunt. Larry had a 51.xxx
I think BillD had a 50.xxx also...
Grant had 3 more runs to go when I left, so he may get me by the end of the day...but it is looking like PB will be #1 and #2 for AX #1 unless something really changes.
Thank you to Grant for allowing me to have some fun today....he was working course when I ran so he was watching the car's attitude. I think Mike got some video and lots of great pics today.... smile.gif

What were the temps like? With some heat in the tires, the car is awesome. I'm surprised you were able to get some heat in 3 runs. It must of been pretty warm. So you weren't running 2 drivers in the same run group?

Also wouldnt underestimate Dan. He has years of driving nicely sorted 2.5 liter Boxster. My car is still basically same car just a lot lighter with a little more stick.
Brad Roberts
No. I *know* Dan is a good driver smile.gif

It was fun to watch both Grant and Dan fling PB around the course. Truly an impressive car and two fast drivers.

I enjoyed the weather, visiting with folks, and the "fun" runs on the course. But I was extremely disappointed with the event. Simply put, it was not a competition (and not just because PB is so fast). Following the extended session for the first run group, with many re-runs to finally arrive at some results, the decision was made early in the second (Red) run group to not bother with re-runs and to only do un-timed "fun" runs. The timing issues appeared to be sorted for the third run group, so timed runs resumed. But the Red group was again plagued with timing problems in the afternoon. After several cars received no times for the third run, along with no times for their re-runs, we were told we could not get another re-run. This was just weak.

We have had timing problems before, but in the previous events I attended, while we might have only had 6 or 8 eight runs, they were all timed. Today, only two of my eight runs (including two re-runs) were actually timed. That is simply unacceptable. If the timing system can't be fixed, we should either get a new one, start using stop watches or just abandon timing altogether and get in more runs. In any case, things need to be sorted out quickly. I had three first timers (separately) ask if it was always this bad, and two said they weren't sure if they would bother coming again. Frankly, I'm not sure I will, either.

I feel your pain. San Diego region has had the same teething pains with their timing system. It is extremely annoying sad.gif

I do have to say this: you get what you pay for.. (these are all volunteers running these events) some will be veterans, some will be newbies.

Let me guess? they were using a wireless system?

B
Britain Smith
Oh the dreaded timing system issues. We had problems at our first event also so we busted out the stopwatches and after we got everything working again, the stopwatches were coming in within 0.1sec of the timer.
