I just pull all this shit from my ass. Nevermind the REAL time spent with race cars at real race tracks with real drivers
Gene Sigal had just gotten out of the car and was describing what the car was doing at corner entry/mid corner/corner exit of the bus stop at Daytona. Notice we are partnered with Brumos and use their pit stall/timing&scoring equipment during Grand Am weekends. I looked all over for JP, but didn't see him at this event

The radiator is legal, but the opening is not. I spoke at length with Grand-Am last year about the opening. I will address it again this year before we go to Barber. We have data logged 210deg. at Miller last year in 86 degree heat.
The car has a 3rd radiator
I need to explain to them that the opening will actually generate LIFT unless we exit it out the top of the bumper!!
Pictures? We have a ton. The car actually pops pretty good with SUNLIGHT!! I think Paul's guy may have only been there for Sat. when it was rainy and cold

JP?
Ferrari F430 team called and signed me onto their 24hr Rolex GT team... Met with them this past weekend while they where testing at CA. Speedway. You know? the one that had the AutoX in the infield parking lot and the track event going on the road course? I'll be working two cars this coming weekend. The Boxster in ST (which runs on Friday) and the 430GT car in the 24hr race.
All smoke and mirrors..
5$ says we work on the car at the track!!

Brad: I do give you credit.....but not for things I know to be crap. Because you are a regular track hero it doesn't mean everything you use there applies to AX or developement of an AX car. You seem to infer that I don't know what I'm talking about in the AX world.....fair enuff.... we will continue to disagree.
You continue to find work and you'll make enuff money to have a real live race car of your own some day. Untill then you self promotion and taking credit for every 914 in CA does nothing for me.
I assume you did all the important work on all the 914s at the Marina Shoot Out.....except mine & Gary's, of course. It was a good idea to get Andrew to switch over to the R spec tires for the 2nd day.....now that impressed me.
I see you are using the "we" word on Brits 912 to boot. Great job.
Brad Roberts
Jan 22 2010, 12:20 AM
So.. if I get a race car? I'm good to go? I wasn't looking for the Ferrari work. They contacted me.
I built Britain's engine and have helped him on the 912 since 1995 or so including helping him when it was in NorCal. I have never said "I" built the car. Never even said "we" built the car. Not sure where that came from? and I sure as hell would not take credit for the Shitbox. Although it would make you really really mad if you knew exactly how many times Britain called me asking for guidance or idea's, then had to sell it too you as his own idea.. That has only gone on since he first got into the seat.
Honestly,
(you may not believe this) I highly respect everything you have done with the Shitbox. I use it as an example to many many people on what can be done with the 914 platform. Just a few days ago, I offered Britain to take the 914 in the 18 wheeler to the Nationals this year. Fly you in, throw down the kiwi tile and put up the awning. Hang out in the drivers lounge in the front of the trailer.. I think YOU and the car deserve a shot at the Nationals. I don't care who drives (I'm certainly not interested) but show up, and do it on a different level.
Self promotion:
You have a full time job. This is my full time job and typically people see results when working with me (positive results) whether it be driver instruction or physical car work that I do. I'm sorry if everything that comes from my mouth/hands sounds like self promotion. It is not intended to be that way.

Actually.. he won't care, now that I think about it If the car gets beat, it will be because Britain made all these changes..
Losing battle. I'll never earn JP's respect.

Auto cross is a skilled activity that like any other, has participants who are novice and others who are experts. wikipedia describes proper or customary use of the term "oxymoron" that may help those who misuse such terms in hopes of gaining cool status on the back of those who they dis.

Evan, you left out people who make a thoughtful decision to AX. I was an awful boat racer. When I raced I put myself and others in needless danger. I have the scars to prove it. No one likes to admit they aren't good at something they enjoy but, I recognized that I was poorly suited as a driver and I walked away before a real tragedy happened. It was one of best decisions I ever made. But, I missed it.
Now, I have a lot more responsibility with a family and a business. Time off to recover is money out of my pocket and a long recovery would see my practice ruined. I made the decision to limit myself to AX. AX isn't the same by any means but, I've found it to be fun and challenging. Feedback is right now and with timed runs you can compete against yourself. Course I'm still a lousy driver but, there isn't nearly as much risk to myself and others.

AXing is the air hockey of motorsports. It takes some great skill to be good but not many people take it all too seriously and you wont find many professional air hockey players. And they have a national championship that looks oddly familiar to AX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAeW33ew-AM...layer_embedded#
Tell that to the 1100 folks at the SCCA Nationals.
Some track guys dis it cause they get their ass waxed when they try it. Most don't, waxed ass & all. The ones that do have some kind of complex & are the offenders. They make excuses instead.
The best thing about AX is you can build (or not build) the car you want, then go race it.

Heh, heh. Some of those "money" folks end up on the 5 o'clock news or on the internet in either a video or thread. Good advice is useless when ego is involved. I can see that AX as an end item would be un-fullfilling to many folks. How can one brag about being a national champ at AX? Most definitely people who serve our country make personal sacrifice and are quite brave. Unsure what that has to do with discussion of backyard sport like AX. So whats your point? You know your on the losing end of an argument when you bring bravery of our troops into a silly AX conversation. If anything its an insult to our troops.
You really are an idiot. I never made any connection between "balls" & AX....just about people and the misuse of terms. You are too stupid to understand what you read and thus not worth any of my time beyond this. Wow didn't realize Ax vs. Track was such a touch subject. Yes I may be a spoiled semi rich kid but I have been spending $10k of my money a year on AX for car development/parts/tires etc since I turned 16 (amassing what people pay me to park their boats at the fancy restaurant I work for). While I realize that this wouldn't be possible if my parents didn't support me in all the other facets of my life, I do have a fair amount of personal investment in the sport well at least of someone < 20 years old. On a side note, $10k a year seems be the bare minimum to develop and campaign a 914 at the pointy end of the local PCA small pond so lets not confuse Ax with inexpensive. I imagine that it would be $25-30k minimum to run SCCA Ax competitively on a national level.
I personal am a wimp and while have the same thrill seeker gene as most adolescent males, my thrill seeking is usually overpowered by my feelings of self preservation. I cite never having broken a bone or needing an emergency visit as proof of my non thrill seeking nature. Heck I made it to College with out ever being sent to the principals office. Anyhow, this is where my "balls" comment stems from, I personally have yet to see if I have the balls to ever turn respectable laps at a track but now that I have the equipment, some skill, and the parental support (I got my dad hooked in the process but he won't drive my cars because he doesn't want to break them) I am ready to see. Whatever the case though, I will never stop autocrossing though.
Sorry I touched off this debate/name calling. Returning to lurker status and leave the incendiary posts to the adults. -Evan

Back on topic. Is there a wind tunnel in California I can rent to do testing on my AX car aerodynamics? I'm also looking for team of skilled engineers with telemetry equipment to head out to a skid pad with me to help setup my autocross car. Of course when I'm competing I will need suspension engineer to make adjustments to the car based on conditions. and of course most importantly I am looking for an AX sponsor who will provide me with umbrella girls to help keep sun off my head while I'm sitting in the grid.
Naw its much more fun to wing it on what I "think" is fast and call myself an expert.
