Much like many of you... I am always searching for the better, and cheaper transaxle alternatives that I can used in my v8 914.....300hp is easy to get use to... and 10-15k for a transaxle is too much money!

Here in Houston we have a Delorean warehouse stocked with NOS parts from the once in business car company. I did a bit of research and found out that the Delorean uses a Renault UN1 transaxle. I know that this transaxle has been used in some high HP cars, but that is about all the knowledge I have about these transaxles.

after a phone call here is what I found out....

THE GOOD PART: This warehouse sells these transaxles for $3100 each(That is brand new).

THE BAD PART: The Delorean is a rear engine car like a 911. The ring would need to be flipped. Since I don't know much about these units, I am not real sure how extensive it is to do this.

THE QUESTION: Do any of you genius Porsche peeps have know anything about this transaxle? And what do you guys think? Worth looking into?

Hey Brad, is there anyone that you know using the Audi set up in a 914? Just curious. I was told by the goobers at renegade that the Audi transaxle is garbage. They said that the 901 and the Audi 5000 are in the same league for strength. Yes no?

Scott is not a Goober.. lol.gif (that is awesome by the way)

What engine are you talking about running (or currently running?)

I have a 305 that is nearly built to it's capacity and I am bored with it. Within the next couple of year I want to start stocking up parts so I can drop a supercharged LS engine in my car. I know this may be crazy, but I would like to set my budget at or near 15k.

Do people still run 930's flipped upside down? I thought about getting a dry sup and giving that a whirl..... any experience with that? I think it would be more cost effective that way. What are the drawbacks?
Brad Roberts
Yes. BeyondBad914 ran his 930 box upside down smile.gif the shifting is still 70's at best sad.gif
