Who are the event organizers? What kind of expreince do the orgnizers have running events like this? Who is being invited? I'm shy about going to events where any yahoo with a Honda Civic shows up to "race". "Track Attack" sounds like an import tuner crowd event.

LOL! Didnt watch the videos. They actually look fairly safe and sane. I know my car would be sliding sideways more than anything in those videos. Maybe I'd be the yahoo?

"My car wont shift in the middle of this 2G corner, I keep missing the shift"

Then adjust your exit of the last corner before the problem area so you dont have to shift in the middle of the corner.

"NO, make the car so it can be shifted in the middle of the 2G corner!!!"

OK Mr. SP, tell me what you do when your 3/4 through a flat out 7-8 cone saloum and you have to upshift to 3rd.

Careful with your answer now.

I was totally razzing him (IMG:http://www.914club.com/bbs2/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The answer is to upshift BEFORE you transition the car side to side. Dont try and do it when both hands should be on the wheel, or run the car against the rev limiter and forget the upshift if it is going to require a downshift within 30feet of the upshift (not worth it)

On an even spaced slalom your speed should be about the same all the way thru....unless there's a slow section beforehand. In that case, short shift to 3rd before the slalom. The car is much less likely to break loose the back end accelerating in 3rd rather than 2nd (or 2nd/1st)....the bit of acceleration you loose is made up by stability.
Torque is gud.....quick, write that down somewhere.:D

I never change gears in a corner of any type.... too much chance of blowing a shift/run.....either create a short straight or short shift before hand.

I'm always mis-shifting into 4th or 5th in AX. ...and I have witnesses. Thats why I'd love a sequential gear box - I'd improve in AX tremendously with a slick shifter. On the track I have plenty of time to shift and rarely catch the wrong gear. In AX if you arent in gear quick youre giving up hundreths of a second - I risk occasional mis-shift by just slaming my shifts mid corner. ...It would help if my damn leg wasnt in the way too! One of these days I have to video my shifting and foot work. You guys would be in hysterics.

Grant,

I call it the "The Dance" Road racing: slow dance AutoX: fast dance

I actually think about the Garth Brooks song "The Dance" before I make my runs. "but I'd a had to miss... the.... Dance...

I tell students, you should be using all THREE pedals. It should be a choreographed dance each pass.
