I would hazard a guess and say that it wasn't really "set up" for any kind of formal racing. And those don't look like the Weld racing wheels I'm familiar with. A fat-fendered, slop-nose conversion. But doesn't look like it's been built for competition.

I would guess it was a Porsche Owners Club (POC) car. You did not say what size the type 4 engine is but I'd bet it is around a 2.4L and will also have a dry sump installed? The extra wide 4 bolt wheels (as was on my 914 ex-POC) car running clicks allowed you to corner much faster than others. Mine also had a stock 914 seat for the driver that had the side bolsters raised and a center hold cut in the back for shoulder belts. They were also allowed to race with a bolt in roll bar and brace as a cage was not mandatory. If you can see it in person then look for those items.
