Hi, my M/C just died ....... read somewhere that the 19mm rather than the stock 17mm leads to much better pedal feel. Any comment.....my 914 V8 has a 911 brake upgrade.......exact model unknown.

If you've upgraded your brakes to 911 brakes, then you should use the 19mm or whichever size MC was used in the 911 brakes you transplanted in.

The 914-6 used 911 brakes & 19mm ATE.

Contact George at AA &/or Eric Shea at PMB & tell them what brake set-up you've got in yours, & they'll tell you what works best.

I'm kinda surprised that the 17mm MC wasn't changed out with the V8 + 911 brakes mods.

the 19mm will reduce the pedal travel but increase the amount of force needed to stop, as you are pushing more fluid with the same stroke. For best feel on the four cylinder, the 17mm is recommended. For spirited driving and a man's foot, the 19mm is a cheaper alternative

Upon further investigation, the M/C is marked with 17(mm)? on the side and appears to not be the reason for my pedal going to the floor and 3 out of 4 caliber pistons being hung up ( cracking the bleeds had no effect on releasing them) and I think the the heat generated 'boiled' the brake fluid and that's the reason for losing pedal to the floor. I enjoyed auto-crossing my Healeys so I think I'm going to bite the bullet and look for components or a package to replace/upgrade the entire system ;a 19 mm m/c, 4 upgraded calibers & pads, 4 rotors (originals pretty burnt), ss connectors, etc. Again thanks for the master cylinder advice, the 17 mm copy I've got now was probably never up to the task.?
