I have to say the dual Solex 40's are great carbs on a 914. I installed these and an SVDA 034 distributor with Pertronix and she runs great. The carbs are so easy to dial in. Here is a pic and video.

Are these one barrels or primary and secondary?

They are single barrel 40's. Similar to the ones that were put on the German 1.8 914's.

It was in great shape when I got it but I changed a few things. It had tan interior and I changed it to black. Not in these pics but I found an original set of side view mirrors and put them on and I had it repainted as it was looking tired.
