I tried a search but did not come up with how to remove the back pad for a 1976 2.0. Could someone give me quick directions?

yes easy. Slide out the seats (release lever under the outboard rail) then remove the center tray (or map box) then unscrew the engine lid release and stand, then remove the four screws behind the seats in the lower portion of the back pad, then pull the back pad out from the bottom and then pull it DOWN freeing the four fingers from the back wall brackets. (if you do not pull the pad down you will risk tearing the riveted on fingers off of the backpad a major calamity.
