How do I determine the original interior color for my 75 914 1.8?
I don't believe what is in the car now is original.

Thanks,

The only 2 ways of which I'm aware are:

1. If you have the original sales documentation it may indicate the paint & interior color codes (not many dealer sales invoices did & window stickers did not show it);

2. Get a COA from PCNA, but beware that they make mistakes & don't bother to check their own codes properly on the older P-cars - it took me 3 tries & last was a call to their customer care GM to get them to correct it per the info which I had to provide (see below). They kept calling #31 black when it's Beige (called tan/caramel/cinnamon/etc. by others) & they've even issued other COAs correctly as #11 Black.

Be aware that the dealers could do an interior swap in 45 mins. with 2 914s side-by-side for customer request, according to a couple of folks who worked at the dealers in the 69-77 timeline when 914s were sold new.

So a 914 could be sold new in a different color that what the COA could show correctly interpreting the proper color codes, but that could show up on the dealer invoice as a "customer interior color change request" (or similar wording & with or without an extra charge by the dealer).

I've attached the document I found online at Jeff Bowlsby's website that I used to get PCNA to correct their error:

http://bowlsby.net/914/Classic/
http://www.bowlsby.net/914/CanAm/

.... also p914.com is a good site with info. on MY changes in eqpt. & colors, etc.

Hope this helps - Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

It will either be buckskin black or white and maybe if black some plaid inserts in the seats. I would get a certificate of authenticity from Porsche, that will tell you definitively
