Pat, I just finished reading Dr. Johnson's 914 & 914/6 Porsche Restorer's Guide to Authenticity. On page 64/65 there was a modified center console for the dealer installed A/C unit. My question is, was this center console modified at the factory or at the dealer? If the console was modified/provided by the factory, then was a dealer installed A/C unit consider factory installed? Can the dealer installed A/C considered factory correct? Which should then be considered correct for Concours quality? I know this forum has considered the A/C as dealer installed, but if I entered an A/C installed car, could I convince the judges that this is factory correct? Or would this only be correct for an optioned car? Does anyone have a previously entered car that had been demerited for a car with dealer installed A/C?

Hi Rob (IMG:http://www.914club.com/bbs2/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I'm not Pat... but from the dealer guy's I have spoken too (ones that worked from 70-76) they all say the same thing: "we cut" the consoled cars at the dealer.

If I was judging an event.. I would consider it "factory" even though it was a 100% dealer installed item.

Hopefully Pat will chime in (IMG:http://www.914club.com/bbs2/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Good to see you.
