Dec 27, 2008 - Pic line and the IV pole removed from home.
Dec 28, 2008 - Surgeon says I will keep my leg and he is terribly sorry for my delima.
Dec 29, 2008 - I decide I need a project to get me walking again. I had restored (my first restoration) a '68 Karmann Ghia in 2002 and had wanted a type 4 ever since. I knew that the 914 was the target of many a type 4 shopper, so off I went in search of a type 4 engine to tinker with.
Jan 9, 2008 - What the Hell. I just bought a 914 in Washington off an Ebay ad. #%@*&$ pain pills!!!!!
Check out these pics and you won't have to read my blog. Yea, it pretty much looks like it did when I bought it. No visible improvements to speak of.

Jan 15, 2008 - My neighbor, his son and the truck driver were nice enough to roll the soote encrusted beast off the tractor trailer and push it inside the garage for me.
Jan 17, 2008 - Found and joined 914club.com . Whew!!!!!!!! The rest is history. Brad welcomed me aboard right off the bat. Neat. No ass wipes or Porsche snobs, yet. I think it was my second post that I met Cap'n Crusty when he responded to my first question. However, he didn't properly introduce himself (those of you that know the Cap'n, understand) until I repeated that question a second time. I'll never forget his response. "I told you where to look the first time!" My knee jerk reaction was to call him out. Better sense prevailed, thank goodness. I then immersed myself in landers renlist article which you already know about or will. It was good advice and later I did find most of the answers I was looking for. He's a grouchy old cuss (actually we're the same age) but I think he has forgotten more than most of us will ever know. No shit.
Over the next few month's I began to walk, bend, crawl and move around again as I tore into the 914. Later, I realized that it was my intense desire to repair this vehicle that actually rehabbed me. Fifty four trips to physical therapy didn't hold a candle to working on this car. As most of you know, some manuevering is required when working on 914's. Well, that just about wraps up my pity party. I just wanted to say Thank You to all of you who held my hand thru this project. What follows will be some pics of my project that may help/entertain you. I took too many of some and not enough of others, so let's begin....................
